Nacido en 1994 en el oeste de Kenia<\/strong>, en el municipio <\/span>de Busia<\/strong>, Okamar Onesmus<\/strong> es un artista autodidacta quien comenz\u00f3 a pintar en su juventud.  Sin embargo, Okamar comenz\u00f3 su pr\u00e1ctica art\u00edstica en 2007 siguiendo el trabajo de su t\u00edo Peter Elungat<\/strong>, y tambi\u00e9n leyendo las rese\u00f1as de <\/span>exposici\u00f3nes en peri\u00f3dicos y libros de arte.  Su libro de arte favorito es Art Across Time<\/strong>, donde descubri\u00f3 a algunos de sus h\u00e9roes como Gustav Klimt<\/strong>, Leonardo Davinci<\/strong>, Pablo Picasso<\/strong>, Michelangelo<\/strong> entre otros.  <\/span><\/p>\n

Born in 1994 in Western Kenya<\/strong>, Busia<\/strong> County, Okamar Onesmus<\/strong> is a self-taught artist<\/span>
\nwho started painting in his early years.  However, Okamar started his artistic practice in<\/span>
\n2007 by following the work of his uncle Peter Elungat<\/strong>, and also reading the exhibition<\/span>
\nreviews in news papers and art books.  His favourite art book is Art Across Time<\/strong>, where<\/span>
\nhe discovered some of his heroes like Gustav Klimt, Leonardo Davinci, Pablo Picasso,<\/strong><\/span>
\nMichelangelo<\/strong> among others.<\/span><\/p>\n

Equilibrando el trabajo escolar y la pr\u00e1ctica art\u00edstica, Okamar<\/strong> comenz\u00f3 a hacer arte como una carrera en 2012.  En 2013 se reuni\u00f3 con Maina Boniface<\/strong>, un artista que le gui\u00f3 junto a su primer mentor, Peter Elungat<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Balancing between school work and artistic practice, Okamar<\/strong> began doing art as a career<\/span>
\n in 2012.  In 2013 he met with Maina Boniface<\/strong> an artist who mentored him alongside his<\/span>

Su principal medio de pr\u00e1ctica en la pintura es el \u00f3leo sobre lienzo, produjo numerosos pinturas antes de que m\u00e1s tarde introdujera acr\u00edlicos en sus pinturas.  En sus pinturas, el principal tema en el que pone \u00e9nfasis es AMOR, que \u00e9l cree que es la \u00fanica soluci\u00f3n para todo lo que afecta negativamente a las personas en las comunidades.  En cada pintura env\u00eda un mensaje de amor, paz, unidad, prop\u00f3sito, esperanza, enfoque, armon\u00eda, determinaci\u00f3n, mutualidad, cohesi\u00f3n entre otros.  Con su trabajo, su objeto es a participar en la documentaci\u00f3n y el desarrollo de la cultura, crear conciencia p\u00fablica sobre asuntos en nuestras comunidades y para llenar las espacios en las historias locales e internacionales. <\/span><\/p>\n

His primary medium of practice in painting being oil on canvas, he produced numerous <\/span>paintings before he later introduced acrylics to his paintings. In his paintings the main <\/span>subject he puts emphasis on is LOVE, which he believes is the only solution to <\/span>everything affecting people negatively in communities. In every painting he sends a <\/span>message of love, peace, unity,purpose, hope, focus, harmony, determination, mutuality,  <\/span>cohesion among others. With his work, he is aiming to participate in the documentation <\/span>and development of culture, create public awareness on matters in our communities and <\/span>to fill in gaps in the local and international histories.<\/span><\/p>\n

Okamar<\/strong> ha participado en varias exposiciones<\/strong> en Kenia entre ellas: Kenya Creative Week<\/strong> 2014 agosto, exposici\u00f3n no contada 2015 agosto, McKinsey & amp; Oficina de la empresa Exposici\u00f3n de julio de 2016, y las exposiciones de Kenia Art Buyers Weekend<\/strong>, donde sus obras se exhiben mensualmente.  Las obras de Okamar tambi\u00e9n se presentaron en la muestra de arte asequible organizado por el Museo Nacional de Kenia<\/strong> 2016 octubre, su pintura fue una de las mejores que fueron exhibidos por la competencia anual de Manjano<\/strong>.  Desde 2016 sus pinturas tienen aparecido en el hotel Dusit D2<\/strong> donde se organizan exposiciones emergentes al final de cada mes.  Ha causado una gran impresi\u00f3n en el \u00e1mbito internacional<\/strong>, donde sus obras fueron exhibidos en la galer\u00eda Saatchi<\/strong> – Londres<\/strong> 2014 octubre y Washington DC<\/strong> 2014 Noviembre organizado por el Mask Prize<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n

Okamar<\/strong> has participated in various exhibitions<\/strong> in Kenya among them: Kenya Creative Week<\/strong> 2014 August, Untold Exhibition 2015 August, McKinsey &amp; Company Office Exhibition 2016 July, and the Kenya Art Buyers Weekend<\/strong> exhibitions, where his works <\/span>are exhibited monthly.   Okamar\u2019s works also featured in the affordable art show organized by the Kenya national museum<\/strong> 2016 October, His painting was among the best that were exhibited by the Manjano<\/strong> yearly competition.  Since 2016 his paintings have <\/span>been featured in the Dusit D2 hotel<\/strong> where exhibition pop ups are organised at the end of every month.  He has made an impression in the international<\/strong> arena, where his works were exhibited in Saatchi gallery<\/strong> \u2013 London 2014 October and Washington DC<\/strong> 2014 <\/span>November organised by the Mask Prize<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ha ganado dos MASK Prize Awards<\/strong>: 2014 segundo premio y 2016. Su trabajo fue publicado en Kenya Art Diary 2016<\/strong> y una de sus pinturas fue una vez nombrada como la m\u00e1s creativa del The Kenyan Star<\/strong>; peri\u00f3dicos.  Okamar es miembro de Retratos de \u00c1frica,<\/strong> Associaci\u00f3n<\/strong> Kenyata de artistas visuales de \u00c1frica<\/strong> y Retiro de Kathatica Anual <\/strong>de Artistas Nacionales<\/strong> <\/span>donde fue invitado a guiar<\/strong> a otros artistas que estaban en el retiro. <\/span><\/p>\n

He has won two MASK Prize Awards<\/strong>: 2014 second prize and 2016.  His work was <\/span>published in the Kenya Art Diary 2016<\/strong> and one of his painting was once named the most <\/span>creative painting by The Kenyan star<\/strong>; newspapers.  Okamar is a member of Portraits <\/strong><\/span>Africa<\/strong>, Kenya Visual Artists<\/strong> Asassociation<\/strong> and Annual Kathatica National Artists Retreat <\/strong><\/span>where he was invited to mentor<\/strong> other artists who were in the retreat.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sus obras han sido muy extensas, tanto a nivel local<\/strong> como internacional<\/strong>, principalmente coleccionistas privadas<\/span><\/strong> de Australia, Reino Unido, EE. UU., Canad\u00e1, Espa\u00f1a, Alemania e India<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n
