  • The Scottish missionary and explorer David Livingstone was the first European to discover this impressive waterfall in 1855.
  • The falls were hardly visited by people until 1905, when a railway was built to the city of Bulawayo.  Since then ‘Victoria Falls’ quickly gained popularity until the end of British colonial times.  Today the falls are a World Heritage Site, and both Zambia and Zimbabwe successfully develop tourism on both sides of the river.

To see it in Zimbabwe or Zambia?

If you only have a short time, we recommend Zimbabwe, as it has a higher section of the Falls, better location and better wildlife viewing opportunities but you can cross across the river and also see them from Zambia without any problems.

Actividades

Activities

Walking: Once you are in town the best option is to walk through the falls to your liking and it is totally safe.

Devil’s Pool: One of the most interesting entertainments at Victoria Falls is a natural pool located at the edge of the falls and it can only be used at a specific time of the year depending on the water flow.
